Free kindergarten is part of the State Government's ongoing reform to early years education in Victoria, to support every child to get the best start for the best life. Early Start Kindergarten is available in all kindergarten programs led by a kindergarten teacher. The number of hours on offer from services will depend on factors such as available workforce, infrastructure capacity and community preferences.
To capture the diverse changes to the kindergarten and its commitment  to local children, a videographer will be present and we welcome attendees to share their Elsa MacLeod Kindergarten experience via a short interview. The below table shows the year the Queensland government recommends your child attends kindergarten. You can wait list your child at a C&K kindergarten up to 4 years in advance. Enrolment offers are made between May and July the year before your child attends.

Our Preschool Program at Happy Nest Daycare prepares children for kindergarten with a mix of structured learning and play-based activities. Early Start Kindergarten (ESK) provides eligible 3-year-old children with 15 hours of free or low-cost kindergarten each week. To be eligible for ESK, children must be from a refugee or asylum seeker background, identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait islander and/or be from a family who has had contact with Child Protection. Most children's education and care services will have a National Quality Standard (NQS) rating.
Montessori preschools emphasize practical life skills, social interactions, and respect for others. Children learn essential skills such as communication, problem-solving, and collaboration, preparing them for a successful transition to elementary school and beyond. Your 4-year-old child can attend a South Australian Government-approved Preschool program for up to 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year. Targeted subsidies are available for families who meet the eligibility criteria, which further reduce your out-of-pocket costs when enrolled in Preschool in one of our South Australian G8 Education Centres.
