English Speaking Practice: Online

The Speaking test will assess your use of spoken English. The test will last between 11 and 14 minutes where you will discuss a variety of topics with an IELTS examiner. Your test will take place in a quiet room with an examiner who will encourage you to keep speaking. Unlike an AI test, an IELTS examiner will be able to make you feel relaxed and confident. They’re also able to understand your accent to ensure you get the best possible score. In this lesson, students review vocabulary and grammar at A2 level related to the  topic of restaurants and menus.
This type of stimulus, featuring a scene (e.g., messy bedroom) with character, has gained prominence since appearing in PSLE Oral 2021 Day 1. It is important to note that such stimulus has been tested consistently in the PSLE for the english oral practice past 3 years and there is a chance that students will encounter it again this year. We also have a huge collection of conversation starters that you can use on topics ranging from daily life to aliens. The PSLE English Oral Exam tests a student’s ability to read and speak fluently. It makes up 15% of the total PSLE English score and consists of 2 components, Reading-aloud and Stimulus-based Conversation . 5 minutes of preparation time will be given before the student faces the examiner, and the actual exam should take about 10 to 15 minutes.

Knowing what skills and topics are covered can help tailor your revision sessions effectively. It all boils down to how each individual student elaborates on their opinions, ideas and experiences. I am an introvert, and I struggle with communication, even online. Despite this, I work as a developer in an international IT startup and must communicate with  teammates from around the world every day. While I excel at reading specific professional materials, I become shy and start mumbling when it comes to speaking. The examiner will use a timer and will tell you when your time is up. You will then be asked some questions about a range of familiar topics, for example, about the music you like, cooking, the weather, or movies you prefer. You will be asked further questions connected to the topic in Part 2. These questions will allow you to discuss more abstract ideas and issues.
Everyone removes their markers and the game starts again. Every expression that’s called tends to be repeated quietly by everyone in the room, and by the end of a session, everyone can say all of the expressions on the card. For the first round, the teacher should “call” the game. The first student to get five markers in a row in any direction shouts out “Bingo!

Incorporating writing into efforts to enhance speech is important. It allows individuals to practice expressing thoughts without real-time pressure. Writing also helps reflect on communication and improve speech at a comfortable  pace. To implement active listening, maintain eye contact, nod to show understanding, and ask clarifying questions. Self-practice is awesome because you don’t have to rely on other people. This make it possible to practice speaking English on a consistent basis. In the previous section, we discussed exercises designed to improve basic speaking skills . These interactive lessons aren’t free since they costs time and money to make. If you don’t want to spend money, focus on the other speaking exercises.

A very interactive and high-energy ESL speaking activity. Many students get so into it and excited that they won’t even notice they are speaking in a foreign language and won’t even have time to think about making mistakes. They don’t need much preparation, but will get your students talking and help them to hone their conversational skills without even thinking about it.
In the third part, you and the other candidate have a conversation to decide something. First, the Interlocutor provides instructions for the task and shows you a series of pictures to get ideas.  Then, you and the other candidate engage in a conversation for 2-3 minutes. The Interlocutor may interrupt to finish this part and start the next one. It’s essential for both candidates to talk together, engaging in a conversation rather than merely taking turns speaking.
