Hi I’m Carissa and I’m the new Centre Manager at Aspire Pakenham! I began my early childhood career in 1990 while completing my Diploma of Community Services in Child Care. Since then, I’ve worked in a variety of senior educator and leadership roles, becoming a Centre Manager in 2000. After relocating to Western Australia in 2008, I returned to Melbourne in 2017 and have continued to lead early learning services with a strong focus on inclusion, quality, and community. Before Charlotte sits down for lunch with her friends and educators, Charlotte takes part in the centre’s sports program. Sports helps Charlotte improve her flexibility and strength (perfect for growing bodies!). Charlotte is almost five years old and can’t wait for today’s carpentry experience - she loves building things! Carpentry experiences allow Charlotte and her friends to extend their learning through real-life experiences. While participating in carpentry, Charlotte is learning to problem solve, experiment and predict.
The educators are lifelong learners, participating in regular and ongoing professional development to enhance their skills. They are encouraged to upskill, learning about the latest research and thinking in the sector. They can then bring this knowledge back to the centre to share with their colleagues for the benefit of the children. The curriculum involves different types of learning experiences and styles.
